Demetrius Mauney announced publicly that he is no longer a Purdue commit via twitter today.
I will be reopening my recruiting process✊ pic.twitter.com/QLtvCnh7k8

This happens in recruiting, and obviously Mauney’s first and foremost obligation is to his family. I wish him the best of luck.
Getting this out of the way early allows Purdue to reopen its running back recruiting board while there are still plenty of options available.
This is just a brief list of players Coach Barclay is probably on the phone with today:
Thaj Gary: 3*(.87) - Atlanta, GA
Jalen Mitchell: 3*(.85) Rockledge, FL
Tony Mathis: 3*(.85) Cedartown, GA
Coach Barclay is one of Purdue’s most dynamic recruiters. I have no doubt that he will fill this opening with a player of similar ability. One name to stash in the back of your mind is 4* in-state running back Sampson James.
As of now, he is an Ohio State commit, and he very well may remain an Ohio State commit, regardless of how the Urban Myer situation plays out, but I would be surprised if Purdue doesn’t keep in touch.
Anyway, this obviously isn’t ideal, but I’m not particularity worried about this decommitment.
