It really time that we call thim Joe “The Show” Schopper. The senior punter is a master of the fake punt and enters his final season with a better completion percentage than both potential starting quarterbacks.
Joe Schopper - Sr.
Indianapolis, IN (Cathedral HS)
6’1, 205 pounds
Punter
2018 Projection: Starting punter.
Sure, we could be boring and list that Schopper averaged 40.5 yards per punt last year and downed 30 of them inside the 20, but that’s not what you want to see. You want to see the fakes.
Who would've guessed the most important pass of the game last week would be thrown by punter Joe Schopper? See it one more time from all angles. #BoilerUp #LetsPlayFootball pic.twitter.com/zKHh6tEaSu

Last season he lived the punter’s dream by completing two passes for 44 yards to Mike Little and Ben Makowski. He also ran 13 yards for a first down on a fake against Rutgers. In a more underrated job, he has served as the holder on extra points and field goals, which can be tricky since we run two kickers.
Off the field Schopper is a pharmacy major, so if he needs a job after graduation and doesn’t mind moving to Kokomo I can give him a good word on a job. He was an Academic all-Big Ten selection last year and enters this season as one of the most experienced players on the roster. He has played in 36 of 37 possible games in his career and, as we can see, is not always going to punt when he is out there.
