Cameron Allen, a mid 3*, 6’1, 185 pound athlete out of Bluefield, Virginia verbally committed to Purdue this morning. Allen plays both QB and CB for his high school team. He chose Purdue over offers from UVA, Marshall, and a several other smaller schools.

Allen is a listed as an athlete, but reading the twitter tea leaves, I’m going to go ahead and assume he’s destined for Purdue’s secondary. This gives Purdue it’s second addition to the defensive backfield this week and third overall in the 19’ class.

Allen fits the long and athletic mold Purdue has prioritized in the secondary. Just guessing that he probably gets a look at corner first with safety as a possibility as well. Purdue will get him on campus and then figure out where he best fits in the program. Physically, he’s what you want in the secondary, and the Purdue staff is confident in their ability to mold him into a good player.

Allen is Purdue’s 2nd commitment from Virginia in this class. I’m having a hard time remembering the last Virginia player to end up at Purdue, but I’m excited about the prospects of opening that talent rich state up for Boilermaker recruiting.
