Purdue Football Recruiting: Demetrius Mauney Commits

It’s been a great week for Purdue football recruiting. In the past week alone we have gained a quarterback, tight end, and a pair of offensive linemen. Now we can add a running back/athlete to that tally in Demetrius Mauney.

Mauney is a 6’ 190 pound athlete that projects mostly as a running back. 247 lists him as a 3-star prospect and an outside linebacker as well a s a running back. Rivals has him as a 3-star athlete. He does not have a star rating per ESPN, but he is listed as a running back. As usual, we have highlights.

It will be itnersting to see where he fits in with this class. If he stays at running back he would be the second in the class, but there will be multiple spots at RB since all four main running backs for this coming season will either be gone or in their senior year by the time he gets on campus. D.J. Knox and Markell Jones are both seniors this year and Tario Fuller and Richie Worship are juniors. He would also be the second linebacker in the class if he stays there.

Regardless, he is a good pickup. He gives Purdue 11 commitments in the class, which is now 30th nationally per Rivals. There is plenty of room, too, with 12 empty spots according to my scholarship tracking.
