Last season the improvement along the offensive line was critical to Purdue’s success. It has been a mess under Darrell Hazell, but Jeff Brohm and Dale Williams turned it into a strength. Now we have four returning starters, including today’s player.

Offensive Line
2018 Projection: Starter at right guard or tackle
Over the last two years Purdue has played 25 football games. McCann has started in 23 of them, and he is not even Purdue’s most experienced lineman. He has been a starter almost form day 1 in 2016 and along with Shane Evans, Kirk Barron, and Grant Hermanns he forms the core of what should be a strong, experienced line.
He can play in multiple spots, too. He played at right tackle in 2016, then last year moved inside to right guard when Dave Steinmetz was on campus for a year.
This year I expect him to be in either place. We’re in need of a new right tackle, so he’ll get a look there. If not, he can still play inside. Either way, he is a valuable asset.
