T-Mill and I are trying something new this dead season.
We are going to draft a “fantasy” roster from the Purdue football roster, including the incoming freshman that may have an impact. Each player that we draft will have a post with him, saying why we went with that player and what impact we believe he may have.
At the end of it all, we will put the rosters together and let you guys vote on who you think would win in a hypothetical matchup. Then, at the end of the season, we will go back to these rosters to see how our teams fared statistically, with stats, games played or games started. Also to note, we have to fill each position on offense, defense and then we both have to have a kicker as well.
So, without further ado, with the first overall pick, in the Purdue Football Fantasy Draft, I am taking...
Markus Bailey, MLB.
To me, Markus is the most important player on the team and the most talented. In a position where there is not much depth, Markus will be asked to be a big time contributor. He will be moved from outside linebacker, to Middle Linebacker, where I believe he is better suited to play.
He can use his speed and roam sideline to sideline. Markus is a walking NFL prospect. At 6’2”, 235 Pounds, he has typical size of a inside backer. The incoming junior will be asked to be the captain of this young defense.
Bailey has had the opportunity to learn from Ja’Whaun Bentley, who is a Patriot now, T.J. McCollum, Garrett Hudson and Danny Ezechukwu - all who are getting chances in the league. Now he has the opportunity to teach Barnes and Larry.
I do believe that Bailey is a 100+ tackle type of player that will pay off when we look back at this at the end of the season to see who had the best draft. I am interested in seeing what T-Mill does with the #2 overall pick.
For now, the number one pick is locked on - Markus Bailey.
