Purdue Basketball: Eric Hunter Named MVP

Is this a sign of things to come?

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-East Regional-Purdue vs Texas Tech Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

This afternoon, Arsenal Tech High School was filled with some of the basketball players from the surrounding states. The Prep Ball Stars Midwest Challenge was hosting this tournament.

This is a chance for a lot of the players in the Midwest that are headed to college to show off their skills for the last time. Two of our incoming 2018 commits were there.

First, Trevion Williams was there representing the state of Michigan. Trevion finished the day with 19 points, leading his team to victory. I could not find a total for his rebounds, but there are rumors that he was in the upper teens - which is an attribute that we will desperately need in West Lafayette next season.

Eric Hunter was named MVP today. He lead the Indiana team with 22 points. Hunter, a combo guard, has already finished high school and is awaiting his short trip up I-65 to get ti West Lafayette. Eric is needed at both guard spots - he will help run the point a bit I would assume. His natural scoring ability is so smooth.

I have said this before, but he is the closest thing we have had to E’Twuan Moore, since well, Smooge was here. Both are smooth operators with the ball in their hands and can shoot from behind the arc.

Congrats to both Trevion and Eric, we are looking forward to seeing you in the black and gold!
