Kyle didn’t pick the oldest guy on the team. Kamal Hardy is a young buck next to my pick today, who is one of several receivers returning with experience that had some good moments last season.
Jarrett Burgess - WR
The biggest knock on Burgess has been his hands, which is not a good sign for a receiver. He has gotten much better however, when you consider that as a freshman in 2015 he had not played organized football in over a decade. He was a walk-on that season after completing a minor league baseball career and he even had a rushing touchdown on an end-around.
By the time the season starts he will be a 28-year-old senior and he had a minor breakout at Northwestern last season. In that game he caught five passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. He gives Purdue some size and speed on the edge and he could emerge as a deep threat.
