Our last countdown player was Robert McWilliams, who figures to be in the rotation at Defensive End. McWilliams is a 6’4”, 225 Pound pass rusher.
Today, a player similar to McWilliams is up, but he put on much more weight during his redshirt year.
Giovanni Reviere - Redshirt Freshman
Chattanooga, Tennessee - McCallie High School

2018 Projection: Possible Starter at Defensive End
On one side of the defensive line, I think we have for sure starter Kai Higgins. The other defensive end spot could be taken up by one of these redshirt freshman or an incoming freshman.
Reviere is interesting, he must have put in a ton of work this past year. When he came to Purdue, he was 6’4”, 225 Pounds. Now, an inch taller and 45 pounds heavier, he is 6’5”, 270 Pounds. That is a ton of muscle he has gained.
Reviere now has that prtotypical defensive end size, he has long arms to bat down passes, he is explosive off the line and now, he will be strong enough to shed blockers. There is a definite need at the weakside defensive end spot, a spot that he could fill extremely well.
In his film from his senior season in High School, he shows great football IQ. If he doesn’t get blocked he squeezes down and finds the ball. He also shows great pass rushing ability. He uses his hands very well in his senior season. He does an excellent job of keeping his head up and finding the ball as well.
One thing I found interesting was that at his high school, they were very multiple - they ran a 4-3 or a 3-4. He played both on the edge and inside against guards - who are generally very strong.
I think Gio (I hope he doesn’t mind that), could be our answer at the weakside defensive end spot. He and Kai Higgins will be solid ends for us.
