98 Days Until Purdue Football: Kai Higgins

Our first player on the countdown should be a big time contributor.

The first player on the countdown to the season will be a player that will be looked upon for a lot of defensive production.

Kai Higgins - Junior

6’4”, 255 Pounds

Defensive End or Rush End

2018 Projection: Impact Starter on Defense

The 6’4”, 255 Pound defensive end will be one of the returning defensive players that have quite a bit of experience. He appeared in 11 of the 13 games last season. He only recorded two total tackles, but he will be expected to produce at a much higher rate than that this season. He will be expected to stop the run and and rush the passer.

Higgins has a very high ceiling, he could be the next defensive player to erupt for the Boilermakers in Nick Holt’s friendly scheme. Holt makes the best out of his players. He turned a Linebacker, Danny Ezechukwu into a pass rushing specialist last season. Do not be surprised if Higgins does the same thing this season.

Higgins should start every game this year that he is healthy. Who the defensive end opposite of him is the only question that remains.
