Purdue Football: Karlaftis Shoots Up 247 Rankings

Guys, Purdue has a Top 20 player committed and I’m shook.

247 Sports put out their new rankings for Midwestern players today, and I was interested to see if George Karlaftis made any headway. Karlaftis has always been ranked as a solid 4* prospect by all the recruiting sites, but most have him hanging out in the mid to late 100’s in terms of national ranking. If a 4* prospect can be considered undervalued, Karlaftis is under valued, as he brings all the physical attributes you look for in an elite prospect and his production is off the charts.

247 Sports appears to agree with my assessment, as Karlaftis moved up from the 173rd ranked player in the nation, to the 12th ranked player, and is just outside of a 5* ranking. That’s right, Karlaftis moved up 159 spots in the rankings. Earlier in the week I said that Hunter Johnson would be the highest rated player ever at Purdue (in the ratings era) but Karlaftis would now take that title (at least in terms of 247 sports).

Karlaftis has a busy summer planned, with official visits lined up with USC (the real one), Michigan, and Florida. He will also be participating in The Opening Finals at the end of the summer. Needless to say, all the blue bloods will lining up to make their pitch, but as of now, Karlaftis is sure acting like a guy that is solid on Purdue. He is active on social media, and welcomes new recruits “to the family”. Obviously this doesn’t mean he’s a lock for the Boilermakers, but it certainly doesn’t hurt. As I’ve said before, I would rather be Purdue than any other team trying to secure his services.
