Today we start the annual Big Ten baseball tournament at the home of the College World Series: TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. Minnesota, Purdue, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan State are the eight teams that have qualified for the double elimination event starting today at 10am ET.
Purdue is the No. 2 seed and will open play in game 2 this afternoon against Ohio State. The Buckeyes are the only team to beat Purdue in the last 20 games, as Purdue is roaring into the tournament on an 18-2 hot streak in its last 20. That is enough to get the Boilers into at large consideration for the NCAA Tournament, but at least one win in Omaha probably makes us an NCAA lock.
So follow along here. All games will be broadcast live on BTN. Purdue’s second game will come Thursday against either Iowa or Michigan, and anything beyond that depends on Purdue winning a game or two.
