Players that make the jump from walk-on to being rewarded a scholarship are always a lot of fun. They are hard-working guys that got overlooked in recruiting, so you know you’re getting a good guy. That’s why I made today’s pick.
Eric Swingler - OL
Swingler is a good value pick because he can play both guard and tackle. he is an offensive lineman with a mean streak, which is what I like. I can put him on the end oppose Hermanns and have the bookends of a pretty solid offensive line. I also have Shane Evans that can play guard or center, so with this lineup I know have three of the likely five starting linemen.
And Swingler has earned his spot. He was a virtual unknown as a walk-on a few years ago and is now a starter on scholarship. Last season he recovered from a torn ACL to be a key contributor.
