Purdue basketball has its second miss on a target in the last 324 hours as Austin Reaves is off to Oklahoma from Wichita State.

Reaves recently visited Purdue and it certainly looked promising after he cancelled his visit to Michigan that was supposed to follow it. Reaves’ dad is from Kokomo originally and graduated with my sister in 1989 before going to play collegiately at Arkansas State. That gave him a familiarity with the area and it was hoped Purdue could land an experienced shooter to immediately replace Ryan Cline.
The downside is that he would have had to sit out the 2018-19 season before he had two years left, and his spot would have taken away one of the three open scholarship coach painter is hoping to use on the likes of Mason Gillis, Keion Brooks, and Trayce Jackson-Davis.
I have to admit that recruiting is not looking good at the moment and I fear a major step back this coming season. Now is the time for Painter to seize on the momentum built by the outgoing seniors, and right now there is not much of it.
