Brad Niemeier has brought his business model and business back to the town that he played football for.
Azzip Pizza opened on the east side of Lafayette this past weekend, where on Sunday they gave everyone a free personal sized pizza and chance to meet Boilermaker great, Ryan Kerrigan.
So far, it seems to be a great hit. All weekend, there was a line, as I drove passed the new business on Saturday and Sunday.
Brad was a walk on to the Purdue Football team in 2008, playing on the same team as Ryan Kerrigan where they built a great friendship. To start his business, he won a competition for best business idea, the Burton Morgan Competition that was held at Purdue.
His original location was in his hometown of Evansville, Indiana. Now he has many locations, Newburgh, Lafayette, Terre Haute, Bloomington and Bowling Green, Kentucky as well.
The pitch is - delicious pizza, at the fastest pace. They can make your personal pizza in under 3 minutes. He has now won a few awards for best new business, specifically in Evansville. As of now, the Azzip Pizza Facebook Page is rated at 5 stars with many people saying they will be repeat customers.
Their set up is somewhat like a subway, as they make the pizza for you right in front of your face. Then quickly bake it for a hot and ready pizza.
It brings different style of pizza to Lafayette, that quite frankly lacks options. Outside of the chain places such as Pizza Hut, Papa Johns and Dominoes, the only unique pizza spots are Brunos, Puccinis, Arnis and Pizza King.
I, for one, welcome the new style of pizza to Lafayette. I cannot wait to get over there and try it. But, I will wait for the initial business to die down a bit.
Welcome back to Lafayette, Brad. Best of luck on the business!
