Another week, another sweep, another Big Ten honor for Purdue baseball. After Ross Learnard was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week last week this week we see catcher Nick Dalesandro named as the Big Ten Player of the Week.

Dalesandro had a big week as the boilers went 5-0 against Chicago State No. 16 Indiana, and swept the weekend series against Rutgers. In 22 plat appearances he reached base 14 times. Yesterday against Rutgers he reached base, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error, and scored on a groundout for the game’s only run.
Defensively he caught all but one inning as Purdue gave up only 8 runs in five games. The pitching staff had a 1.40 ERA for the week thanks to his efforts. He didn’t have catcher’s speed either, as he ended up stealing four bases.
He is currently third on the team with a .322 average and second with 27 RBI. He leads the team in stolen bases at 14 and behind the plate he has thrown out 16 runners stealing.
