Purdue Football: T.J. McCollum NFL Draft

The 5th year transfer will have a chance to get drafted.

NCAA Football: Minnesota at Purdue Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

T.J. McCollum will be our 2nd potential draft pick that we take a look at. McCollum did not have a normal college career. He started his career at UAB, then they shut the program down.

He then headed to Western Kentucky where he played two years, as he was a vital part to their defense. When Coach Brohm and Coach Holt left, he followed them to West Lafayette for his 5th year of football.

He did not disappoint. The versatile linebacker played all over for us. He played inside, outside and even off the edge at times. He was a welcomed addition to an already really good linebacker group.

Name: T.J. McCollum

Size: 6’1”, 235 Pounds

Position: Linebacker

College Career Stats: 267 Tackles, 22 Tackles For a Loss, 6 Sacks, 1 Interception

Experts Say: “After a solid career at Western Kentucky, McCollum transferred to Purdue and played reasonably well in 2017. He possesses average size and poor speed but shows explosion and instincts, which could make him an intriguing prospect this summer.” - Draft Analyst

My Opinion: I really like T.J.. I do think he goes undrafted though. Right now, the NFL is a speed game and his 4.82 forty yard dash just won’t get him drafted. I do believe he will be picked up as a free agent for a try out. His natural ability and strength may get him on some special teams. But ultimately, I believe he ends up on a practice squad.
