It has all come to this.
Even without Isaac Haas, the minimum expectation has been to make it this far. If Purdue loses this game, the “Painter can’t make it past the Sweet 16” will still exist.
If Purdue wins, but loses to Villanova or West Virginia, the “What if” regarding the Haas injury will persist.
If Purdue wins the regional, but loses in the national semifinals to Duke or Kansas the “Purdue can’t beat Elite athletes” will exist.
If Purdue makes the title game it will play Michigan (a team it has beaten twice), Kansas State (with a former assistant as head coach), Florida State (and C.J. Walker, who spurned us) or Loyola (a MVC team with a nun who made a deal with god Himself).
It gets real with this game right here. Everything this season has led to tonight and another chance to move past our 18 year roadblock at this level.
