Yesterday Carsen Edwards was named as a finalist for his positional award, the Jerry West Award for the nation’s top shooting guard. Today it is Vince Edwards’ turn. Vince was named one of 10 finalists for the Julius Erving Award given to the nation’s top small forward. This is a little different, as Vince often plays at the 4 position, but he is not a traditional power forward. He is playing like a small forward at the power forward position.
The final five will be picked in mid-March, but Vince has some very stiff competition for this one. Keita Bates-Diop and Mile Bridges are at this loaded position from the Big Ten alone.
Here are the 10 current finalists:
Jacob Evans - Cincinnati
Gary Trent Jr. - Duke
Kevin Knox - Kentucky
Deng Adel - Louisville
Mile Bridges - Michigan State
Keita Bates-Diop - Ohio State
Vince Edwards - Purdue
Mikal Bridges - Villanova
Trevon Bluiett - Xavier
Kelan Martin - Butler
