Edwards suffered the injury last Saturday at practice during a transition drill. The initial worry was that it was severe enough to end his career at Purdue, but a scan revealed no structural damage. It is now just a waiting game until Edwards’ feels up to playing, but with the B10 race a game away from Purdue and eyes on March, Coach Painter will take a very cautious approach with his senior who had only missed one game before this ankle injury.
In Edwards’ absence, former walk-on Grady Eifert got the start the start and played well. Purdue was able to get the win as Purdue’s bench as a hole stepped up while getting more playing time. Nojel Eastern’s ability to play positions 1 thru 4 proved important, he provided an athletic presence and filled in on the glass.
This means Vincent Edwards has just one possible regular season game left in his career this Sunday, at home for Senior Night, against Minnesota.
He will likely be a game-time decision then as well.
