Purdue Basketball: Purdue Vs Ohio Grades

How did our Boilers grade out from last night’s beat down on Ohio?

NCAA Basketball: Ohio at Purdue Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Starters:

Carsen Edwards:

Grade: A

Why: Carsen was excellent last night. There was effort on defense, of course he was explosive on offense as well. His best stat last night was 5 assists. When he can be a guy who can score and distribute, we become much more dangerous. He still had 3 turnovers, but with how much he has the ball in his hands, it really isn’t that bad.

Ryan Cline

Grade: A

Why: Is the slump over? It sure looked like it last night. Cline was on fire to start the game. He ended being 7 of 11 from the field and 5 of 8 from deep. He had 19 points. He also had 4 assists to only one turnover.

Nojel Eastern

Grade: A

Why: Nojel was great on defense as always, but he was effective on offense last night. He was 3 of 3 from the field scoring 6 points. Defensively he had 3 steals and a block.

Grady Eifert

Grade: B

Why: Grady hit his open shots and Coach Painter continues to show faith him, leaving him with the starting 5. He had 8 points and 5 rebounds last night. His only hiccup was having 4 personal fouls, getting the 4th with 18 minutes to go in the second half.

Evan Boudreaux

Grade: D

Why: Evan continues the stretch of struggling basketball. He had 3 points all from the line last night and only had one rebound starting at the five. He, Haarms and Tre basically split the minutes at center, Evan got 15.

Bench:

Eric Hunter Jr.

Grade: A

Why: This was easily Hunters best game, logging 19 minutes. He scored 13 points and had 4 assists with no turnovers. He finished with only missing one shot.

Aaron Wheeler

Grade: B

Why: Wheeler did a nice job of taking what he got. He had 5 points and 5 rebounds. His length effected many shots from Ohio last night. He logged one block on the night while playing 13 minutes.

Trevion Williams

Grade: B

Why: Tre continues to eat into the playing time of other centers. He, Haarms and Evan basically split minutes. He had 5 points and 8 rebounds as well as 2 blocks. There were times where he did not rotate well on defense, but that will continue to be a work in progress.

Matt Haarms

Grade: C

Why: Haarms continues to lose minutes. The center job was his for the taking, but he never took a strangle hold on it. He had 4 points and 4 boards off the bench, but he also had 2 turnovers in only 12 minutes. He also did not block a shot.

Sasha Stefanovic

Grade: B

Why: Sasha did a little bit of everything and sometimes when you don’t notice a player much, that is a good thing. He only scored 2 points, but had 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in 15 minutes of play.
