For the second straight season and 19th time ever Purdue is in the postseason. This time we get a first-time opponent in the Auburn Tigers. Purdue and Auburn will meet in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, the first time Purdue has played in Nashville since a game at Vanderbilt in 1942.
Purdue has an overall bowl record of 10-8 after beating Arizona last season in thrilling fashion in the Foster Farms Bowl. We’re 2-2 all-time against SEC teams in bowl games. We beat Tennessee in the 1979 Bluebonnet Bowl and Missouri (then in the Big 8) in the 1980 Liberty Bowl. We lost to Georgia in overtime in both the 2000 Outback Bowl and 2003 Capitol One Bowl.
This should be a fun little matchup. Auburn is the third team Purdue will play this season that was int he preseason top 10, joining Ohio State and Wisconsin in that honor.
