Name: King Doerue
Hometown: Amarillo, Texas - Tascosa High School
Position & Size: Running Back, 6’, 220 Pounds
Ranking: 3*
Offers: Arkansas, Houston, Kansas, Mizzou, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Texas Tech
Impact: The bigger Texas schools are going to regret not recruiting King earlier in his career, as he heads north to Boilermaker Country.
King, an under recruited running back out of Texas, may end up being one of the best players in this class. I love his size, speed, strength, agility and hands out of the backfield. He reminds me a lot of what Markell Jones looked like in high school.
If we get the same type of collegiate career, then we will win some games with King in the backfield.
Don’t expect it right away, with having two seniors and a junior in the backfield next season, it is feasible that he has a redshirt year, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the field. He is so talented.
Coach Barclay got a diamond out of the Lone Star state, one that the Texas schools will wish they could have held on to. Welcome!
