Abdur-Rahmaan Yassen - 6’1, 180 - 3* (87) - Walled Lake Michigan (Walled Lake Western)

The 2020 wide receiver board will be interesting for Purdue. The current wide receiver roster is young, with only 2 seniors graduating in 2018 and no players scheduled to graduate in 2020.

Purdue will bring in at least 3 and probably 4 wide receivers in the 2019 class, so things might start to get a little crowded. There is always attrition to worry about, but barring a mass exodus of young guys that might be worried about their spot on the depth chart, I think 2020 will be a 2 wide receiver class for Purdue.

Yassen might be one of the early favorites to pick up one of the coveted 2020 wide receiver scholarships. As a junior he collected 53 receptions for 964 yards and 7 touchdowns. He is an advanced route runner with excellent hands. He is quick out of his cuts, which allows him to gain separation on almost every play. He also does an excellent job of tracking the deep ball and adjusting his body to make the catch.

I think he could flourish in the role Issac Zico played for Purdue this season. He is running routes as a junior in high school that many juniors in college would struggle to execute. His use of the double move to open himself up deep is elite, and Jeff Brohm likes to utilize just that route in his offense. The Purdue offense should be appealing to a receiver with Yassen’s skill set.

He currently holds offers from all over the country including Boston College, Kentucky, Iowa, Northwestern, Indiana, Iowa State, Maryland, Minnesota, and Rutgers. Purdue offered Abdur-Rahmaan on 6/22/18, and he was a part of the large class of 2020 contingent that visited Purdue on 12/15 - 12/16.

I like where Purdue is currently positioned with Yassen, but he’s looking for an in-state offer from both Michigan and Michigan State. If either (or both) offer, his recruitment would become exponentially more difficult.
