College Basketball Poll December 17: Purdue Still Receiving Votes

The latest AP Poll is out and even after losing 5 of 7 to fall to 6-5 on the year Purdue is still receiving votes:

  12. Texas Tech 912
  13. Virginia Tech 838
  14. Buffalo 684
  15. Ohio State 647
  16. Wisconsin 619
  17. Mississippi State 529
  18. Arizona State 415
  19. Kentucky 377

Yes, Purdue still received 20 votes this week, good for 32nd. This poll is absolutely loaded with Big Ten teams, however, as Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, and Nebraska are all in the top 25. Maryland received 103 votes and even Minnesota got three votes. Belmont, Purdue’s final non-conference opponent, received 2 votes. IN the final 20 games of the season Purdue plays 11 games against teams currently in the AP top 25, and it probably needs to win all 9 unranked games and 6 of the ranked team games to reach the NCAA Tournament.
