Purdue managed to stay in the top 25 this week, but just barely. Despite getting its first loss of the season Purdue hung on to the No. 24 spot in this week’s AP Poll, and that was with a flood of Big Ten teams moving in.

It is significant that Villanova fell out of the rankings for the first time in 94 weeks, which was the second longest active stretch behind Kansas’ 183. Purdue would be at 69 straight (our longest stretch ever) had we not fallen out after the Bahamas for one week last year. That would be third behind Kansas and North Carolina (82). As it is, this is our 8th straight week in the AP top 25, the 8th longest active streak tied with Tennessee.
In the coaches poll Purdue actually moved up three spots to No. 19.
