So we all know about George Karlaftis. Our lone commit for 2019, a 4 star Defensive End from local West Lafayette Jr-Sr High School, who has offers from literally everyone.
But did you know there was another Karlaftis? That is correct, George has a little brother, Yanni, who started as a freshman Outside Linebacker for West Lafayette this past year.
The rising sophomore had 5 interceptions his first year of varsity play and according to Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports, he is a name we should get to know.
West Lafayette (Ind.) High 2021 OLB Yanni Karlaftis is a prospect to know in the Hoosier State. Had 5 INTs in his debut season: https://t.co/qMXG65eTIH

Yanni is 6’3”, 205 pounds already and he hasn't even ended his freshman year of high school. On 247 sports, he has a short list of Michigan, Purdue and SMU that he is interested in. I doubt he has any offers, but if his ceiling is as high as George’s is, then he will be just as special.
Who knows, maybe we will get a bloodline going through West Lafayette to play for Jeff Brohm - I would be totally fine with that. Take a look at how special Yanni already is as a freshman in high school.
I hope you watched that, because he is really, really good. He shows great football IQ already, when being read in the read option, you can tell that he is going to make the play as he sits and waits for the quarterback to make a decision.
He plays that unique stand up rush end position, can you imagine he and George on the same side next year? Oof. Yanni had 44 total tackles and 5 interceptions, which are highlighted above.
He is really impressive and will be a fast riser. I am sure that Coach Brohm & Co. will be all over him early on in the recruiting process.
