Purdue Football: Ja’Whaun Bentley Headed to Senior Bowl

This is a very good thing when looking at past Boilermakers.

Yesterday, Ja’Whaun Bentley accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl, which is played on January 27th.

As you can see, this is generally a good thing for our Boilermakers. As, the past few who have played in this bowl were drafted and actually drafted pretty high in the draft.

Kawaan Short was drafted early in the 2nd round to the Carolina Panthers. He is now a very rich man, as he signed a new deal where is getting paid around 18 million dollars per year.

Ryan Kerrigan was a monster at Purdue and played in the senior bowl. He would later be a first round pick to the Washington (Insert Racist Name Here). He is also a very wealthy man now, making over 11 million dollars per year.

Cliff Avril, the dominant defensive end for the Seahawks and super bowl champion was drafted in the third round to the Detroit Lions. He is now one of the most feared edge rushers in the league, but was hurt this past year. Avril is making over 7 million dollars per year.

Lastly, you have Kyle Orton. The gunslinger was drafted in the fourth round to the Chicago Bears. He was robbed of his super bowl start by Rex Grossman, Orton is now retired but had a solid and productive NFL Career.

So, like I said this is a very good thing for Bentley. I think he could be drafted in the mid rounds and a have a long and successful NFL career. Best of luck at the Senior Bowl, Ja’Whaun!
