Purdue Basketball Recruiting: Eric Hunter Commits

Coach Painter gets his third commit for 2018

NCAA Basketball: No.Carolina A&T at Purdue Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

We’ve been teased about it all day and now we have some confirmation: Matt Painter has added the third member of his 2018 recruiting class with 6’3” guard Eric Hunter from Indianapolis Tindley high school.

Hunter was a state champion last season at the 2A level here in Indiana and has them favored to repeat this season. He is a 4-star recruit according to Rivals (and 126th nationally), a 4-star recruit according to ESPN, and a 4-star (and 136th nationally) according to 247 and Scout. Hunter has long been a Purdue target as a scoring 2-guard and he can play the point as well in a pinch. He was originally supposed to visit Minnesota, but cancelled his visit before his announcement tonight.

Here are some highlights:

This is a good pickup because Hunter has long been a priority for Painter in this class. We still have a couple of spots open, and Painter would like to add a true point guard. With two spots he can get one, too.
