Today’s player struggled a bit last season, but because he gained a ton of experience that could pay off in the long run.
Tim Cason – Jr.
Clarkston, MI (Clarkston HS)
6’, 195 pounds
Cornerback
2017 Projection: Possible starter at cornerback
Cason was thrown to the fire last year. Purdue needed a second cornerback alongside Da’Wan Hunte and there was no clear-cut choice. Cason ended up winning the battle and starting most of the time. He played in 9 of 12 games and finished with 17 tackles and a pass breakup. This was after he played in six games as a redshirt freshman in 2015 and had four tackles.
Unfortunately, opposing offenses picked on him constantly, making his hold on the starting job tenuous as we enter camp. Cason is in his fourth year at Purdue. He needs to have a big season to make sure he is on board for 2018.
