28 Days to Purdue Football: Jacob Abrams

The freshman from Carmel enters as a reigning state champion.

NCAA Football: Northwestern at Purdue Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

Carmel is one of the state’s premier athletic programs not just for football, but for any sport. Last season It won the Class 6A state title, its 8th title in school history, and sent us two players despite going a pedestrian 5-4 in the regular season.

Jacob Abrams – Fr.

Carmel, IN (Carmel HS)

6’2”, 195 pounds

Cornerback

2017 Projection: Possible redshirt

It is hard to say if Abrams will play immediately or not. Purdue has a very young secondary and needs some new guys to step up and play, but we have yet to see who that will be. One of those guys could be Abrams.

They rebounded to roll through the tournament, beating HSE, Fishers, Homestead, and Penn before outlasting Center Grove (and avenging another loss) in overtime in the state title game. In that run, Abrams was the team’s No. 2 tackler with 60 tackles along with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Since he played for Carmel, who has a big game every week, that can only help him prepare for Purdue. here are his highlights to close:
