Purdue was knocked out of the running for in-state 5-star prospect Romeo Langford last week, but today it was surprisingly named as one of the top 8 choices for another 5-star. His name is Louis King, and he named Purdue among his top 8:

King is a 2018 prospect who is a 5-star according to both ESPN and Rivals. Rivals has him as the No. 16 player nationally and ESPN has him at No. 21. He is a 6’6” small forward with a pretty versatile game. Here are his highlights.

King plays for Hudson Catholic in New Jersey and he can both shoot the three and get to the rim. He seems like a dynamic scorer that is also extremely athletic. He has enough size to bang for some rebounds and get to the hoop, but he can shoot too. Here is what the Indy Star has on him:

King, who is averaging 17.7 points and 6.3 rebounds through eight games on the EYBL circuit, will have a high-profile recruitment. His offer list includes Connecticut, Kansas, Maryland, Oregon and Syracuse. Purdue also offered King on Tuesday after seeing him play at Westfield.

Kentucky hasn’t yet offered King, but is also among the programs after him.

Purdue is competing with Maryland, Seton Hall, Washington, Oregon, Kansas, Syracuse, and NC State here. Getting him would be a huge get, as he is the highest rated player out there with a Purdue offer for 2018. With Vince Edwards leaving after this season he could come in and replace Vince almost immediately.
