2017 World University Games: USA vs. Estonia

It’s time for the final game of Pool play.

NCAA Basketball: Purdue at Michigan Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

If you’re a West Coast Purdue fan this is some good news for you! You get a prime time Purdue basketball game tonight during the final Group Stage game of the World University Games and PurdUeSA will even be streamable online. Purdue takes on Estonia tonight at 12:30AM ET/9:30PM PT. I even have it right here:

With a win PurdUeSA clinches the group in Pool play, and even with a loss it almost certainly has the group clinched. We would need Argentina to lose in that case, and the Argentinians are favored against the Romanians in their final group game. The most likely scenarios is that both the United States and Argentina will advance out of the group.

Coach Painter’s rotations will also be interesting here too. This is the third game in 3 days and a short turnaround from the Romania game. Grady Eifert and the freshmen played quite a bit in the Romania game, and with the championship round being three games in three days after having Saturday off getting any rest for the starters will be critical.

Estonia is 3-1 having beaten the Czech Republic, Romania, and the United Araba Emirates. They absolutely need to beat hte U.S to advance and htey probably need Argentina to also lose just to have a shot.
