2017 Projection: Contributor at quarterback and wide receiver
Sparks brings an interesting dynamic to the quarterback position for us. His dynamic is so interesting that coach Brohm has mentioned he will have his own package installed in the offense and he will probably get a few snaps per game back there. He is a dual-threat QB that can make things happen with his feet.
Sparks has also been practicing as a slot receiver and is expected to play there as well. With Purdue needing athleticism it makes sense to get him onto the field in some capacity. The interesting thing about him being a slot receiver and a quarterback is it brings trick plays into the occasion. I would be willing to bet there will be at least one time this season where he receivers a backwards pass or gets the ball on an end-around and he pulls up to throw.
