Early this morning the World University Games kicked off in Taipei, and as part of Team USA, Purdue men’s basketball took part. The event is very much like the Olympics only for college students around the world, so naturally there are many parallels in the ceremony.

More than 10,000 athletes from around the world are taking part in this event, including the University of Iowa, who is representing the United States in baseball, and the University of Maryland representing the United States in women’s basketball. It really is the Big Ten vs. the World here.
