Hey hosers! It’s time for Team USA to show that this is, indeed, our hemisphere and not Canada’s. If we were playing hockey that would be a different story, but this is basketball (and don’t remind me that James Naismith was, indeed, Canadian).
It is the semifinals of the U-19 World Cup and a berth in tomorrow’s Gold Medal game against either Spain or a rematch with Italy. Carsen Edwards was excellent in the 81-59 quarterfinal win over Germany. He finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a blocked shot to fillt he stat sheet. He was also praised for his defense.
The Canadians got here by going 2-1 in their group. They beat Mali 91-42, lost to Spain 78-73, and beat Japan 100-75. In the knockout rounds they beat Angola 87-65 and France 73-67.
USA vs. Canada
2:30PM ET at Cairo Indoor Stadium, Hall 1
PROGAMMING NOTE: For the quarterfinals on the games are not broadcast in the U.S. on YouTube, but they are carried by WatchESPN, so I linked to that.
