Team USA had little trouble today in advancing past winless Mali in the Round of 16 at the FIBA U-19 World Cup in Egypt. The Americans were up 30-10 after one quarter and were never really challenged after that. The U.S. won 117-69 with seven players scoring in double figures.
Our own Carsen Edwards was one of those 7 players in double figures.he finished with 10 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in 21:17 of play. He was 3 of 5 from the field and was 1 of 2 from long range with a first quarter triple. The Americans were an absurd +34 with him on the floor.
The U.S. now moves on to the quarterfinals where it will play the winner of today’s game between Germany and New Zealand. The semifinals would then be against France, Puerto Rico or Canada.
Once again, we’ll have the streaming up tomorrow during the game.
