Wonderful news today. Caleb Swanigan, the reigning Big Ten Player of the Year, is officially rich. The Portland Trail Blazers camt to terms with Biggie today. The terms of the contract have not been officially released, but he will wear a familiar number in Portland:
Swanigan will make his Trail Blazers debut at the 2017 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Portland tips off its schedule on Saturday, July 8 vs. Utah at 3 p.m. (Pacific).
He will wear No. 50 for the Trail Blazers.
The details of his contract are not official, but we do know what he will approximately make. As the 26th pick he will make between 80% and 120% of $1,221,600 in year one, $1,450,000 in year two, and $1,694,300 in year three. The team has an option on year three, and year four as well. Year four, if the team picks up the option, is an 80.3% increase of his year three salary, while year five would be a 47.6% increase from year four as a qualifying offer.
So, at minimum, Caleb is guaranteed now for two years and around $2.7 million. Not bad.
