Coach Brohm said that Running back was vital for the class of 2018. He now has two after not taking a running back in the 2017 class.
Destin Coates joins Clay Harris as running backs to come north from the southern states of Georgia and Florida.
Clay Harris is more of a run through you type, as he is right around 210 pounds.
Coates is a run past you type, as he boasts a 4.48 forty yard dash according to his HUDL page. This is Coach Brohm & co. 4th commitment since Saturday. This class continues to grow as well. I have said it a million times but expect a class from 25 to 30 in size. The early signing period will help us as well.
As a junior, Destin had over 1,300 yards, 200 plus in receiving and had 19 touchdowns. He is an explosive athlete with a chip on his shoulder. He could be one of the steals from the 2018 running back class in my opinion.
His speed, ability to catch, run away from the defense and open field moves are just some off the assets he possesses. Destin will come in next year to a back field with a lot of depth, but Markell Jones and DJ Knox will both be seniors. Brian Lankford-Johnson a junior and the same is the same with Richie Worship. So it may not be right away, but he will be a big time contributor for Coach Brohm in his Purdue career.
Welcome to the family, Destin, Boiler Up!
