Wille Lane, a versatile 3* defensive linemen out of Winter Haven Fl, became Purdue’s 15th verbal commitment for the 2018 class. Lane joins fellow Floridian Connor Parks and Ohio’s Jack Cravaack as future solutions at the defensive end position for Coach Holt’s defense. I’ve been having some technical difficulties (anyone have a shoulder I can borrow?) and missed Willie’s initial commitment, but he was kind enough to give me some time last night to answer a few questions, so without further ado, I give you Mr. Willie Lane.
What made you decide to pull the trigger on your Purdue offer, and who was your primary recruiter?
I felt like Purdue was the right fit for me because they can turn me in to the best player i can be. Tony Levine was my primary recruiter.
I've seen your height and weight listed about 3 different ways. Can you give us an accurate height and weight?
I am 6’2 255lbs.
Purdue is moving to an aggressive defensive scheme under Coach Holt. How and where do you see yourself fitting into what Purdue wants to accomplish on the field?
I feel like that I’m able to adjust quickly because I’m able to play all the down lineman positions.
As a follow up to the last question, what do you consider your greatest strength on the football field?
I feel my greatest strength on the field is my quick twitch and how i can put an offensive lineman on their heels.
I watch your tape, and it's obvious some teams have slept on your talent. Do you have a message for Purdue fans reading this article?
There is always gonna be an underdog but no one can measure your heart!
One more thing....
I didn't choose Purdue university because it was my biggest offer. I chose Purdue because Purdue chose me.
I would like to thank Willie for taking the time out of his summer break to answer my questions. I’ll be keeping up with Mr. Lane (and most of the other Purdue verbals) throughout their high school season. Let’s all welcome Willie to Purdue University.
