P.J.’s little brother can fill it up!

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-Second Round-Purdue vs Iowa State James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

We all know PJ by now. The undersized, underecruited point guard that has turned this team around since stepping foot on campus. I literally call him the Anti-Ronnie. He makes the right decisions, makes the big shots and plays defense.

Well, little brother, Isaiah Thompson, can fill it up.

Isaiah is a little bit taller than PJ. Isaiah is 6’, PJ is 5’10” on a really good day. While PJ is more stout, Isaiah has a lean look to him. Currently, Isaiah is mainly getting recruited by MAC schools, but that doesn’t mean Coach Painter isn’t watching this class of 2019 combo guard.

He has been on campus for unofficial visits and obviously with his family to go to games and visit PJ. Coach Painter is doing his due diligence. The 2019 class will need a guard. I love offering guys that you know exactly what you are going to get.

In football, we saw it with the Anthrops. You know that they are smart kids on and off the field, they are going to work their butts off and that they will give you more than 100%. First, it was Dru Anthrop, walking on to the basketball team, then Danny Anthrop got an offer from Coach Hope then most recently Jackson Anthrop got an offer from Coach Hazell.

With the Thompson’s you know you are going to get a kid that will buy in, make the right decision, be intelligent on and off the court and listen. PJ has been a vital part of the turnaround that the program needed after two bad years.

PJ had all pretty small school offers, Depaul, Wisconsin Green Bay, Dartmouth, Miami (OH), Ball State and Indiana State. Then, a month before signing day we came in with an offer, he committed and the rest is history.

It appears that Isaiah may be down the same track. He has some small school offers, but interest from bigger schools. Rivals has him as a 3*, 247 has him as a 4*. Coach Painter is waiting it out and not offering too early, as he does with most of his guys. But, I hope that Little Thompson ends up in the Black and Gold like his older brother did too.
