51 Days to Purdue Football: Bryce Brown

The center from Evansville is a promising walk-on.

NCAA Football: Northwestern at Purdue Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

Walk-ons are always hard to find information on, so I will do my best today to fill in the gaps on our featured player.

Bryce Brown – Fr. (RS)

Evansville, IN (Evansville North HS)

6’1”, 268 pounds

Offensive Line

2017 Projection: Deep Reserve on offensive line

Brown joined the team as a walk-on last fall and, like many true freshman walk-ons, he officially redshirted. He is mostly a center, so he is at a position where we don’t have a definite backup because Kirk Barron has it. He was a member of the all-city team in Evansville as a senior for an Evansville North team that only went 1-9. While there is some good football in Evansville, north has not won a sectional since 2000.

According to his Scout profile he was receiving interest from Kentucky, Ball State, and Louisville. He even has a nice highlight video. Brown is the type of player that can develop into a contributor in time. Without a definite backup center behind Barron there is an opportunity there as well.
