The coming of Big Ten Media Days is a sign that football is almost here. It is always in late July in Chicago, where sportswriters gather to grill athletes and coaches about hte upcoming season. They often get bland, meaningless quotes in return. these usually relate to muscle mass gained and how excited they are to be there.
The best quotes from the table free for all sessions with the players. Here, you can get a more candid response, like I did a few years ago in interviewing Carson Wiggs. Each school sends three players, and here are Purdue’s three this year:
David Blough - The junior quarterback led the conference in passing last season and is expected to have a great season under Jeff Brohm. He should have some really good insight into the new, functional offense. Blough will also speak on behalf of the student athletes at the annual luncheon. He is the first Boiler to do so since Keith Smith in 2010.
Ja’Whaun Bentley - This is old hat for Bentley, who was one of Purdue’s representatives last season. The senior linebacker had his 2015 season cut short due to a torn ACL and was limited last year too. This year, his final one, should see him at full strength.
Danny Ezechukwu - It remains to be seen where and how much Danny E will play with T.J. MCollum and Markus Bailey also starters, but the fifth year players has been around a long time. He is part of the leadership transition to Brohm.
Big Ten Media Days are July 24th and 25th in Chicago and will be televised on BTN.
