According to our friend, Nathan Baird, from the Lafayette Journal & Courier, Robby Carmody has set his date for an official visit to Purdue’s campus.

Robby will be here the weekend of June 16th, a.k.a, next weekend. Robby is one of Coach Painter’s most sought after recruits. He offered him a couple of years back and has kept a close point of contact with Robby and his father.

Robby has been on campus several times for home games, unofficially, he has openly said he loves the atmosphere of Mackey Arena. I think we can agree with him here, as I believe it is one of the top 5 arenas in the nation. The sell out crowd gives me goosebumps every home game.

Robby is part of Coach Painter’s plan to get a shooter in every single class. Robby is not only a pure shooter though, he can put the ball on the floor and get to the bucket as well. He is a hard nosed, tough kid that would fit well with the Purdue mentality of “Play Hard”. He brings it on both sides of the court.

We have said over and over again that the 2018 class is a huge class for our Boilermakers. We need it to be another great one, comparable to 2014 class that included Vincent Edwards, Isaac Haas, PJ Thompson, Jacquil Taylor and Dakota Mathias, this is the class that turned our fortunes back around. We need this 2018 class to be great as well, to continue our recent success.

Getting Robby would be a great start. During his junior year at Mars High School he averaged 26 ppg, almost 13 rpg, 5 apg and 4 steals per game. Currently, Rivals has Robby ranked as a 4 star prospect and 98th overall in the nation, I think he is much better than that ranking. Robby would be a building block for another successful set of years. He will also set official visits to Notre Dame and Michigan for the summer.
