It took a while, but with one of the few new coaches in the Big Ten Purdue was always slightly behind the rest of the pack in recruiting. Coming into this evening Purdue was the last power five program without a commitment for the class of 2018, but we finally joined everyone else:

Jaylan Alexander is a 6’0” 240 pound outside linebacker from Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He also plays wide receiver, but Purdue has recruited him as a linebacker, which is needed given this coming season’s departures of Ja’Whaun Bentley, T.J. McCollum, and Danny Ezechukwu. Here are his offensive highlights:
Purdue is his only Power five conference offer so far but he is a consensus 3* prospect and 247 Sports has him rated at 87 (a high 3*). He brings good size and potential to the position. His best offers were from Western Kentucky, New Mexico, and a handful of MAC schools. That probably means the staff has been on him since their Western Kentucky days.
We will learn more about him as the year goes on, but let’s welcome Jaylan to the fold. We’re finally on the board for 2018.
