For the first time in Purdue’s history in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge the Boilers have a rematch with their opponent from the previous season, making for a de facto home-and-home. Today we can move that matchup from “TBA” to “confirmed”:

Louisville, a possible preseason top 5 team, will be coming to Mackey Arena on Tuesday, November 28th. Since the Big Ten season will open with a pair of games starting on Saturday, December 2nd, it makes for a very, very taxing stretch. Purdue will play Louisville just three days after playing in the Bahamas. It is entirely possible Purdue could play Villanova, Arizona, and Louisville in succession on November 23rd, 24th, and 28th.
We’ll know more on the Big Ten schedule later, but Big Ten senior associate commissioner Mark Rudner has said all league teams will play two games over the first weekend in December — one at home and one on the road. Teams will play either Friday and Sunday (Dec. 1-3) or Saturday and Monday (Dec. 2-4).
For those wanting a challenging early season schedule, you have it.
