Today’s player is one of many vying for a starting spot on the offensive line. He is also a townie that earned himself a scholarship from West Lafayette HS.
Peyton Truitt – So.
West Lafayette, IN (West Lafayette HS)
6’5”, 289 pounds
Offensive Guard
2017 Projection: Potential Starter at Offensive Guard
Officially, it is about 1,800 feet from West Lafayette high school to Ross-Ade Stadium. That is the shortest distance a coach would have to travel in order visit a recruit at his school. Sure, West Lafayette plays its games out on Salisbury and Cumberland, but when the previous coaching staff couldn’t be bothered to offer a kid at Lafayette Central Catholic, at least West Lafayette was close enough.
So far Truitt has been waiting to make a contribution. He redshirted in 2015 and played sparingly last year behind Jordan Roos and Jason King at guard. With those two off to the NFL, Truitt now gets his chance. He was an all-state selection and 3-star commitment out of high school. He should be in consideration to start this fall, but we shall see.
