Purdue football continues it’s scorching hot June by pulling in the commitment of Jimmy McKenna, a 6’5, 260 pound 3* OT from Avon, Ohio. McKenna holds an impressive offer list including: Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan St, Minnesota, Pittsburg, and West Virginia. Overall, McKenna is one of the highest ranked prospects in Purdue’s 2018 class.

Coach Brohm and Coach Williams like their offensive linemen long, lean, and athletic, and that is exactly what they are getting with Jimmy McKenna. His tape shows and athlete with an impressive combination of strength, speed, and athleticism.

My favorite play on his junior tape occurs at the 18 second mark, where McKenna and Avon perfectly set up a screen and you see McKenna get to the second level and punish a defensive back (ironically, McKenna hit the kid so hard, he moved onto the next block and the defender accidentally makes the tackle). His ability to move his feet and play in space is what attracted Purdue, and several other major programs, to McKenna. McKenna will obviously need to add some weight, but he has the frame to play around 300 pounds. Keeping his athleticism while adding size will be the key to McKenna’s success at Purdue.
