Take 2?
On August 30, 2013 Purdue fans gathered in downtown Indianapolis with a ton of promise. I was there. The various alumni clubs and the athletic department pulled off a great event as we prepared to kick off a new era of Purdue football with a massive tailgate party on the circle in downtown Indianapolis before starting the new season the next day at Cincinnati. For everything I have ripped the Burke era on, this was a very well planned event and that was forward thinking from our athletic department. There was excitement for the program and it really felt like we were on the verge of something big.
Then the Boilers got the living hell kicked out of them not only the next day, but for pretty much the next 48 games.
Four years later, we’re starting over. They are even calling it: Circle UP! Boiler Tailgate 2.0. It is another tailgate party on the Friday before football seaosn starts against a school located on the Ohio River. Here are the details:
Get together with all your Boiler family and friends at the Circle Up! Boiler Tailgate on Friday, Sept. 1 in downtown Indianapolis. Hang out with Purdue Pete, ride the Boilermaker Special, sample food trucks, the beer garden and cheer on the Purdue football team when they arrive.
When
Friday, September 1, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Honestly, this sounds like a very good idea. I love it in practice, but my Purdue PTSD is kicking in and I remember what happened four years earlier. It is being put on by the Boiler Business Exchange and you can even register in advance here.
May it be better this time.
