Jersey numbers in the 80s tend to be the domain of receivers and tight ends. Today we have another tight end that should move up the depth chart a little this year.
Jess Trussell – So.
Arlington, TX (James Martin HS)
6’6’”, 242 pounds
Tight End
2017 Reserve at tight end
Trussell is mostly a big reserve blocking tight end. Since the Brohmfense is not afraid to use TEs (unlike the Shoopfense), he could have a larger role. He has the size to be an excellent blocker, and in red zone situations he could be a troublesome matchup.
Trussell played a fair amount in the spring game, but did not catch a pass. He is very likely the No. 3 tight end behind Cole Herdman and Brycen Hopkins right now, but expect to see him some on goal line situations as a blocker.
